Xiaomi is a smartphone manufacturer that cares about its users and consumers. The company is always in constant work to offer periodic updates to its devices, which is why they keep up to date with the latest defenses and MIUI news.
The firm is now developing a new security feature for MIUI 11 that notifies users which are the confidential permissions to which the applications they have installed can access, in order for them to know and determine if they really want to grant these permissions to the apps and thus have a more rigorous control over their privacy.
Just like the portal XDA-Developers informs, the feature is called "Application Behavior Logs" in MIUI 11 and it logs when apps start other apps in the background or use confidential permissions. The behavior it tracks is as follows:
- Autostart in the background.
- Chain start (application that starts another application).
- Use of certain permissions.
- Take sensible actions.
On the other hand, the "sensitive actions" in MIUI 11 apparently include the following:
- Record audio in the background.
- Access calendar events.
- Access the call history.
- Making a phone call.
- Take photos or record videos.
- Access or save items to the clipboard.
- Accessing contacts.
- Accessing your location.
- Read your text messages.
- Access to sensor data.
- Access to activity information.
- Access to device information.
- Read your phone number.
- Access or save files in the background.
When this security and privacy feature is ready and finalized for MIUI 11, Xiaomi will implement it in different software updates for devices compatible with this version of the customization layer. It is possible that very soon we will be witnessing the officialization of this important novelty.
