Dark mode
Not everyone enjoys the light background of WhatsApp, especially those users who have photosensitivity or do not use their mobile during daylight hours. For it, developers created dark mode, which comes pre-installed and only requires activation.
The steps to activate are as follows:
- You must open your WhatsApp app and go to the three points at the top right of the screen.
- Click on the option “Settings” and then on “Cat".
- In the first option that will appear “Theme”, enter and change the default theme to Dark. Click on the button "Ok” and it will be activated.
This will activate the option for all elements within the application, chats, statuses or calls.
Deactivates the double blue check of received
The check option was an idea that Allows you to know when a message is received and later it changes color when it is read. However, many users did not completely like the idea, as they stated that it violated their privacy.
To alleviate this, WhatsApp allows you to deactivate this option, preventing others from finding out when we read the messages. The way to disable it is:
- Open your app as usual and go to “Settings".
- Enter the second option, “Privacy ”. Here you will have access to the options that allow you to manage who can see your profile picture or statuses.
- You must deactivate the optionReading confirmations".
Keep in mind that even if everything goes well, the application of the change may take a reasonable time, up to 24 hours.
Choose who can add you to a group
It happens to many of us someone unknown adds us to some group in which we would not like to be. Well, there are some WhatsApp tricks that do not allow this to happen. To do this, the methodology is very similar to what was done previously to deactivate the double blue check. What you should do is the following:
- Open the WhatsApp application and enter “Settings".
- Then open the privacy option and locate the option of “Groups".
- Here you can choose who adds you to groups. The ideal in this case is that they are only your contacts.
In case you have a contact that insists on adding you to many groups, you just have to choose the last option, here you can leave that user out of the list.
Leave your name blank
¿Did you know that you can have a profile without your name?? When configuring the app, WhatsApp will ask you to enter a name by which other users can identify you. This is mainly for when the users you write to do not have the contact saved in their address book or when you write in a group.
The shape leave your name blank it is very simple and everything will be based on ASCII code. The steps to follow are those:
- Enter the WhatsApp app and again search for "Settings”. If you have doubts about how to do it, it is the same procedure performed in the previous tricks.
- Open the Profile option, here you will not find the word anywhere, you just have to click on your name, next to your photograph.
- To change, you simply have to click on the small pencil on the right, this is the option “Edit".
- Where says: "Write your name”, you must copy and paste the blank or null character. We leave it here between the brackets [ㅤ].
- Save your name and you're done.
If you leave the space unfilled, you won't be able to save until you add something, so it's very important that you choose the character I left you earlier.
Give a particular format to your texts
For some time, W.hatsApp allows you to give it a highlighted format and very particular to the text, this regardless of whether it is done in States, Chats or broadcasts. These formats are nothing new in word processors, but in messaging platforms it is very different.
To use this trick, you must make use of a particular format depending on the type of elements you want to include. Here is the list of the 4 existing formats currently in WhatsApp:
- Cursive letter: To add italic letters, you must open and close the sentence with an underscore or underscore (_). For example: “_Hello, welcome_”.
- Bold: If you want to include bold in your text, you must start and close your sentence with the use of an asterisk (*). The example is the following: “*Welcome to Androidsis* ”.
- Spaced Monkey: This option allows you to write sentences with three backticks or apostrophes ('). For example: » '''Hello world''' ”.
- Cross out the sentence: This is a very popular method of crossing out phrases to indicate that a change is made or requires modification. In WhatsApp it is necessary to place tildes (~) at the beginning and end of your sentence. The example in this case is: “You should change the ~bad words~”.
These formats put more emphasis on some phrases or even small parts of the chat, making the conversation more interesting and orderly.
Send videos or images that are removed when viewed
This is one of the newest features within the platform. It looks for you to see an image and it is destroyed once it is seen by the other user. This is ideal for when you don't want other people to be able to access your files, making it ideal for sensitive data.
To do so you need to follow a few steps:
- Enter the chat where you want to send the video or image.
- Click on the clip located in the writing bar, the same one with which you attach files.
- Choose the file you want to send.
- On the screen where you add comments to the image, edit or crop, you will find an icon with a number 1, right next to “Add comment”. Click on it.
- A screen will appear indicating that your image can only be viewed once and cannot be shared, saved or forwarded. We click on “Ok".
- We send in the traditional way and once the other user receives it, they will be able to see it and when they leave it, it will disappear forever.
As we said before, this option increases privacy, allowing sensitive material to be sent and guaranteeing its subsequent destruction. This material can only be opened from a mobile. Even if you have WhatsApp installed on your computer or use it from a web browser, you will not be able to access the image.
