Google gives you 15 GB free with your Gmail account

As you know, it has been years since Google Photos does not offer unlimited storage to upload the photos and videos you capture on your mobile. Now, in addition to the fact that almost everything takes up more than before, the space that Google offers for free to users with a Gmail account It is shared between Google Photos, Google Drive and Gmail itself. This means that many users do not have enough space for their files.
And is that the 15 GB free that you have for your Gmail account, although it seems like a lot of storage, not enough for many users. Users who have had two options: either extend the paid subscription and get more space or use free cloud storage service accounts.
These two options are valid but if we do not need so much space and we want to save the price of a cloud storage service, we can continue tips to optimize the space we already have in our Google account.
Today I want to show you some tricks that will be great for you to save space in Gmail and thus save you money on cloud storage. Let's see them.
Ways to optimize free Google storage

The 15 GB of storage that you have for free with your Gmail account goes a long way, but you have to know how to manage that space or it quickly fills up.
Today I am going to teach you tips to save space in Gmail but first of all I recommend you make a folder in Gmail so that you can save all the important emails that you do not want to lose under any circumstances.. Once you have the folder, download it to have a backup copy. This way, if you delete something you shouldn't have, you have a saved copy.
Yes now, Let's go with some tricks and tips to optimize Gmail storage.
Empty the Spam folder

Spam is unwanted email and depending on how long we have had our Gmail account or how we use it, we will have more or less spam. In my experience, spam is not a big problem since I always avoid those companies that do not stop sending advertising. But I have seen truly terrifying spam boxes.
If your spam folder fills up easily you will have to access it regularly to delete unwanted emails and thus free up space. You can access this folder from the left menu by clicking the down arrow that says "More" and then clicking "Spam." But if it's easier for you, you can type "in:spam" directly into the search bar.
Delete emails with large files

Another trick to save some space in Gmail is to clean large files that are of no use to us. This is something very simple but many people don't know how to do. To find large files, for example 10 Megabytes or more, you must put “has:attachment larger:10M” in the Gmail search engine.
In this way, only those emails that have attached files weighing more than 10 megabytes will be listed. It is a quick way to delete a lot of space quickly since now all you have to do is select everything that is not useful for you to delete.
To delete the emails you must first delete them (they will go to the trash) and then, from the trash, you have to permanently delete them. You can download the rest of the files to your computer and delete them from your Gmail if you need even more space.
Delete old emails

this is done in the same way as in the previous trick but writing "older:YYYY/MM/DD" in the search bar. I explain step by step so that you don't have a single question (and if you do, it's okay, ask me in the comments and I'll be happy to answer you).
- Open and enter Gmail with your account.
- In the Gmail search bar, you must write: «older:YYYY/MM/DD» (with "YYYY" being the year, "MM" being the month and "DD" being the day you choose). For example, if you want to delete all emails older than January 15, 2024, you will have to put “older:2024/01/15” in the search bar.
- Now all the emails you have prior to that date will appear. Select the emails you want by checking the checkbox next to each email. You can also select all by clicking the checkbox in the top menu.
- Once you have the emails you want to delete, do Click on the “Delete” button with a trash can icon.
- These emails are now in the Trash folder. To permanently free up space, go to the “Trash” folder in the left panel of Gmail.
- give to "Empty the trash" and the emails will be permanently deleted from your account.
Ready, with this you will have much more free space in your Gmail account, but if you want to optimize your storage even more you can check out the other apps that share space with Gmail.
Review files on shared storage

As I told you before, Google Drive and Google Photos share storage space with gmail. So it's a good idea review and organize all the files we have in these apps. From the Google Photos application you can rescue all multimedia files and transfer them to a hard drive or computer.
You can do the same with Google Drive, enter from its app and check what takes up your storage space. If you have files that no longer serve you, you can delete them.
Note that If you delete a document from Google Drive, it does not disappear but rather goes to the trash folder for 30 days before being deleted. If you don't want to wait, to save space in Gmail you can scroll through the menu to look for the "Trash" option and from there delete the documents that are of no use to you. If you do it like this they will disappear forever.
