Tolino Shine: arrives to unseat the Amazon Kindle

Today we heard about the launch of a new e-reader that uniquely runs on Android . This impressive e-reader is set to challenge the mighty Amazon, whose Kindle devices dominate the market.

This project has become a reality, thanks to the union of Bertelsmann and his German partners (Thalia, Weltbild, Hugendubel and Deutsche Telekom).

The features of this magnificent e-reader are very interesting, and will undoubtedly make many people hesitate in choosing which e-book reader to buy.

Features:

  • Screen 6-inch, built-in backlit display brightness, 1024 × 758 pixels, 16 gray levels.
  • Thickness only 7 mm.
  • Memoria interna 4GB expandable up to 32GB with MicroSD card.
  • Battery duration  up to 7 weeks
  • Operating system Android
  • Processor 800MHz single core and 256Mb of RAM
  • Supported formats: ePub ,. pdf, .txt
  • Price for only 99 euros

In addition to all these characteristics, this electronic book was born with an online store with 25GB of books, something that undoubtedly places it at the height of Amazon. One of the drawbacks is its processor, we will have to see it in operation to see if it will be enough or not.

To compete with the all-powerful Amazon, it will need to reach the largest possible number of customers and convince them to buy this e-reader instead of Amazon's Kindle —something that is presumed to be a very difficult task. But it has five of the world's largest publishing and telecommunications companies behind it, all of which will try to challenge Amazon and its Kindle range.

Can the Tolino Shine dethrone Amazon's Kindle? Its main attractions will undoubtedly be the integration of Android as its operating system, something many users have been clamoring for, and its price of just 99 euros. We'll be keeping a close eye on this battle that has begun in the world of e-books.
