Google surprised us a few days ago with an interesting novelty that allows us test the quality of a video call before making it. That is, if we have to enter an interview for a telework or have a meeting with such a provider or company, what better way than to really see how we are going to be.
I mean, lighting, if we have a lot of dark circles, if the connection is good or if the sound is fine and no interference is heard. This can become like something unimportant, due to the penetration it has had on a day-to-day basis, every time we can see more if we pay attention to how we see ourselves, if the quality of our connection is good and so on. Go for it.
The importance of a stable and quality video call
If for example, we are going to have a job interview to telecommute (do not miss this series of apps for teleworking), and those meetings by video call are going to be something everyday, it is important that, before they tell us that we look bad or we hear worse, pay attention and always have an optimal quality connection first.
For this Google has put the batteries to bring to its application the possibility to make a video call with ourselves in order to test the quality of the audio and video signal. Google on Meet has called it "Green Room" or "Green Room."
As in real life, Google lets through this green room, the same that artists and actors use to prepare before going to the shot, prepare everything before going to the live show. Let's say we could call it like the mirror where we keep an eye out in case we don't have a bread crumb at the corner of the lip or our hairstyle looks perfect without any flaw.
How to use "Green Room" on Google Meet

With a Google Meet that has been growing gradually, now incorporates features to make things easier for us and a hers is a perfect connection to enter a session video call:
- Begins a video call session or participate in one (does not appear if we host a quick one)
- Click about "Check your video and audio", and you will see how a new window is generated that guides you through the various checks to perform to test the quality of the video call on Google Meet
- At first screen we can change the microphone, the audio output and the camera devices that we have connected. We go to the next option
- It is now when we have the option to record a video to check the quality of the call and the video. When we click on «next» we will be ready to record
- For a few seconds we have the possibility to record our voice and thus prove
- The video will be played so that we can assess the quality of the video call in both the audio and the video. We have a series of «tips» to help us if we find background noise or some kind of interference and thus correct them
- Ready to check the quality of the call, click on "X" to close the "Green Room" or "Green Window"
- Click on participate and we will go directly to the video call on Google Meet
Also we can check the call quality in other apps like Zoom (from which Meet has taken as inspiration) or Microsoft Teams and thus know how to review that video call so that it comes out perfect in the meeting with bosses or that with suppliers for your company.
