During the launch of the Galaxy S10 series Yesterday, Samsung made a surprising reveal about the sales of the Galaxy S series. The manufacturer has been silent on the sales figures for all this time, but the CEO of the company, DJ Koh, revealed that the tech giant has sold a massive number of Galaxy smartphones since the first set of models left the factory in 2010.
This revelation explains why Samsung has remained the number one smartphone maker globally. The South Korean company has held this title since 2012.
A few years ago, Samsung seemed untouchable at the top of the charts, but not anymore. Chinese giant Huawei is currently pushing itself to the top spot. But now, with the various controversies plaguing Huawei, that may not happen anytime soon.

DJ Koh did not break down the details of the sales figuresBut it is believed to encompass all Galaxy models ranging from the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note, and perhaps even the Galaxy A, Galaxy C, Galaxy J, and Galaxy On, among others.
Also noteworthy is the proximity of the company's Samsung phone sales to Apple's announcement in September last year that it had sold nearly 2,000 billion iOS devices since 2007. Samsung may have performed better as this figure corresponds to the Galaxy phones, but Apple's figure includes iPad and iPod shipments while Samsung's are just smartphones.
Also, while the iPhones from the Manzanita company went on sale in 2007, Samsung released the first Galaxy S smartphones in 2010, three years later. Therefore, the performance that the South Korean company has had for a few years is an impressive feat.
