Requirements to flash a cooked rom on Samsung terminals

Tips to follow

Given the multiple comments in different posts from the blog, especially by users of Samsung terminals, I have decided to create this must-read guide, on tips on how to proceed to install a properly cooked rom.

I have to say, these tips are applicable to both terminal users Samsung, like those of other models or brands.

The first thing we must take into account is that we will need a terminal rooted and the ClokWorkMod Recovery o modified recovery installed, this is a different process for each terminal, in the blog itself you can find many articles on how to get it for different models of Android terminals.

Once we have the terminal rooted and with modified recovery installed, it is essential to make a backup or nandroid backup of our entire system, this is one thing that can free us, after a bad flashing, to recover our terminal as we had it before.

Recovery nandroid backup

It will also be essential that we make a Backup from our folder EFS, this is a folder found inside the root of the system files of our phone, which contains personal identifying data of our device, data such as IMEI, MAC and Bluetooth address and many other unique data of each terminal.

The folder backup EFS We can do it through commands using the terminal emulator, or with any root file explorer such as Root Explorer o ES File Manager.

The reason for the backup of this folder is because sometimes, during the process of flashing cooked roms, this folder can be delete, thus leaving us with a terminal that could not even make phone calls or use the most basic services.

Another thing to keep in mind, especially for users of Samsung who want to flash a rom for the first time ICS o Jelly Bean, is that when flashing the rom for the first time, it may be that it installs us at first, the Kernel new attached to the rom, leaving the rom itself without installing in the first flash.

We will know this because our terminal will remain in a continuous loop, or on the initial screen of boot, or on the screen of the new Kernel installed. To solve it, we just have to re-enter Recovery and continue flashing the rom, normally following from step Install zip from sdcard, without the need to do any wipe.

This last problem is the one that people comment on the most in the different posts from the blog, many believe that it is due to a bad flashing and are trying to recover their terminals re-flashing original firmwares, when a simple installation of the rom would be enough.

USB debugging

In addition to all the advice already mentioned, it should be remembered that we must have Battery Device fully charged and usb debugging enabled from the settings menu of the device to be flashed.
