You might think that when you read the title of this post, " How to prepare the LG G2 for its Android Nougat update ," at first you've gone completely crazy or that you haven't read the title of the article or practical tutorial that I'm presenting to you today.
The thing is, I haven't gone crazy, and you've read the title of this post correctly. Let me explain: it's common knowledge that LG decided to remove the LG G2 from its list of models to be updated to new Android versions, leaving it on Android Lillipop 5.0.2. This is a shame, since we're talking about one of the best phones in recent Android history, capable of running the new Android Nougat or Android 7.0, just as it runs Android Marshmallow with excellent performance and fluidity. Well, much to the chagrin of LG, since they only think, like all Android smartphone manufacturers, about selling more and more phones, today I'm going to show you how to update the LG G2 to Android Marshmallow using CM13 and get everything ready to receive new versions via OTA as they're released by the developers of the large CyanogenMod Android community, including CM14 or Android Nougat 7.0, which should be available very soon.
To follow this practical tutorial step by step, in which we will prepare the LG G2 for its update to Android Nougat through the OTA updates of the upcoming CM14 ROMs, as is logical and expected, we will have to meet a series of requirements that I will now explain and provide the necessary links that will take you to the different practical tutorials to achieve it very easily.
Requirements to meet in order to prepare the LG G2 for its update to Android Nougat

- Have the terminal, LG G2 model D802, Rooted and with the modified TWRP Recovery updated to its latest version available
- Having an backup EFS folder just in case.
- Having a nandroid backup of the whole system in case we back down to leave everything as it was before the Rom CM13 flashing process.
- Having an backup of all our applications and data since in the process of flashes we are going to erase all of them.
- Having USB debugging enabled from developer settings.
- Have the battery charged to 100 x 100.
Files necessary to prepare the LG G2 for its update to Android Nougat thanks to Cyanogenmod

To update the LG G2 to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow using CM13 , and prepare it for future OTA updates, we'll need to download the latest CM13 nightly build, CM's own recovery, and the native Google apps. This includes the Google Play Store and the Google services framework, allowing us to download any app from the Android app store.
Once all the files have been downloaded and copied to the LG G2's internal memory, we will be able to completely turn off the device and restart it in Recovery mode to follow the steps I indicate in the attached video embedded at the beginning of this post, steps which I explain in writing below.
Flashing method of the last nightly CM13 and the Gapps

Once inside the modified TWRP Recovery, we will follow these steps to the letter to flash the ROM and the native Google applications :
- Wipe, Select Wipe Dalvik, Cache, System and Data, we slide the bar.
- Install, We first select the Zip of the Rom nightly CM13 and we delirium the belly.
- We return to the main menu again.
- Install, We select this time the zip from Google Gapps and we slide the bar again to execute the action.
- Finally we select Wipe Dalvik cache from the button that appears at the bottom right and as soon as it finishes we select the option of Reboot System.
We wait for the LG G2 to restart completely, configure it, and once we can access the system, if you want to install Cyanogenmod's own Recovery as I did in the video, you should follow the steps that I will explain below.
How to install Cyanogenmod's own Recovery on the LG G2

- We go to the Google Play Store and download Flashify. Just below I leave you direct link for the free download of the application.
- Once installed, the we open y we grant Superuser permissionsTo do this, you must first have enabled them from the developer settings as I show you in the video.
- Once already inside Flashify, we select the option Recovery, we look for the .img file that we have downloaded from the official CM page, the one that corresponds to the version of our Nightly, we place on it and clicking on the YUP! it will be installed.
- With this we will have our LG G2 model D802, ready to receive the next update to Android Nougat via OTA and in a fully automated way.
