Photo Map is a new app that allows you to explore all the photos in Google Photos through a map. An entire application that for those who use the Google photo gallery is almost an essential.
Thanks to the fact that for years the labels of the places where we have been taking photos have been added, now we can go back in memory and at a quick glance know where those long-awaited photographs were taken. This is because the Google Photos API does not send location information to third-party apps, which simply means that Photo Map has to access the "real" files to read the location tags of the EXIF โโinformation for each of the photos.
Therefore, that you know well what you adhere to when you give him permission to use your Google Drive (especially if you have sensitive information), since we have to trust a developer who would be using the Drive data. If we only use the Google Drive account for travel photos without anything really private or with sensitive information, Photo Map will be able to launch your photos on a map.
The app itself
If you give him permission to use the photos you have in Google Drive to collect EXIF โโinformation from photos, Photo Map will take care of placing your photos on a map and showing how many were taken in each location.
Among some of its most outstanding features is the possibility of change the theme of the map, delete the images and even share them directly from Photo Map. Another option is the ability to search for images thanks to the name of the file and the data that we also have in the EXIF โโtags. This includes the description of the file and the score given.
Photo Map is an app that we have it for free with advertising, although it has its version without ads for 8,49 euros. A very useful application and we hope that it gives rise to the big G to get its act together and soon launch this feature to Google Photos (which continues to be updated with new features), since it is not understandable that these days we cannot take a quick look at a map and find our photos located where they were taken.
