Android Pie was delayed for the Nokia 8, but its arrival is imminent

Since Nokia's resurgence in the smartphone market, the HMD Global firm has been characterized as one of the cases that cares most about keeping their phones up to date. On this occasion, the company proves it again.

The Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco are next in line to get Android 9.0 Pie. According to the HMD Global update schedule, both phones were supposed to get the update in November, but that didn't happen. Now Juho Sarvikas, HMD Global's Chief Product Officer, took to Twitter to explain the reason for the delay.

According to the tweet posted by the executive, they are working on the update for the Nokia 8, but some unresolved issues have prevented them from rolling it out to users as expected for a few weeks now. In the publication, he also noted that they need a few more days to finish.

Based on the tweet, it has been assumed that the update should reach the smartphone in the first week of this month. Still, there is no information on the Nokia 8 Sirocco, but the update should also arrive shortly after the Nokia 8, or earlier. Actually, they are estimates, so we cannot guarantee anything, although we can speculate that it will be released, yes or yes, before the year.

As news, Android Pie will offer interesting functions, like a new gesture navigation, a redesigned and more organized and useful recent apps menu, an adaptive battery, an adaptive brightness and a digital well-being application on the phone, in addition to other quite interesting features.

The Nokia 8 was announced in September 2017 and it came with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. This has been updated to Android 8.1 Oreo and will now be updated to Android Pie, which will be its second major OS update. Hopefully it will happen in the next few days.
