The Nokia 5 and 6 begin to receive Android 8.0

Nokia 6 2018

Finnish firm Nokia, through HMD Global, has just launched the expected update of the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 terminals to Android 8.0, an update that comes later than many users could have expected, since one of their main arguments from both companies was that they would be among the first to update to new versions of Android as they hit the market.

But as we can see, the update to these models has arrived 3 months after launch, although seeing the current panorama, better late than never. HMD started the Android 8.0 beta program for the Nokia 6 last year, ensuring that we would not have to wait long to enjoy the final version, a final version for this terminal that has finally seen the light of day.

Although the Android Oreo beta program for this terminal has not been available in China, it has been the first country to receive this final version of Android 8. If your device is the TA-1000 model, it is likely that within a few days, this update will be available on your terminal. Otherwise, you will have to wait a few days, or weeks, for HMD to release the update for your model.

This update, occupies just under 1,6 GB, quite a sizeable for an upgrade. At the moment, we are not clear if this final version brings us the security patch for this month, so until it offers more information, we will not be able to leave doubts. As it begins to be available in more countries, we will update this article, so that you know at all times if your Nokia 6 terminal is finally compatible with Android 8.0.

After this update, the only HMD and Nokia terminals that to date have not yet been updated to Android Oreo, are the Nokia 2 Nokia 3, the low-end terminals that this alliance has put on the market, mainly in emerging countries.
