MediaTek has officially announced your new Helio G85 chip, processor that will initially arrive in the phone Redmi Note 9 from Xiaomi. The Taiwanese manufacturer updates the G series with an improved Helio G80 model processor, the latest CPU was announced in early February.
The G80 and G85 will be able to coexist together because they are very similar, the difference between the two is due to a better GPU speed and the inclusion of various technologies. To make matters worse, the Helio G85 adds a new feature called "VoW" (Voice on Waking) and performs much better with games.
This is the new Helio G85
MediaTek has wanted to keep the same CPU, it is 8 cores with two Cortex-A75 cores that work at 2,0 GHz and six Cortex-A55 units have a speed of 1,80 GHz. It keeps you seeing good performance on applications, games and processes of all kinds, it is quite efficient and consumes low energy.
The GPU is Mali-G52, the speed goes from 950 MHz to 1,0 GHz, which is an equivalent to 50 MHz higher and is noticeable in practice as specified by MediaTek itself in its press release. It retains the features of the Helio G80 such as VoW and the improved HyperEngine Game technology.
MediaTek promises smart prediction of the exchange between Wi-Fi and LTE, the chip can switch between the two networks in just 13 ms, providing a lag-free connection. The new processor differs from calls during the game phase by users without losing the data connection. Already some high-end phones are suffering from this.
