This app proves to be very useful, as it allows you to mark Gmail emails as read directly from the notification bar . With the Gmail app itself, you only have one or two options: archive the email or reply to it.
We also don't think it will take long for Google to launch this feature in its email service, although in the meantime, the creator of this useful application will take advantage , since this is not a free app, but we will have to acquire it in the Play Store for €0,94.
MarkAsRead for Gmail does its job perfectly , and as its name shows, it marks emails as read from the notification bar itself, saving us precious time that would otherwise be spent opening Gmail to do the same thing.
Between the usual "archive" and "reply" buttons, we'll find the new icon for this application. MarkAsRead is integrated into the Gmail app to perform an action many of us have been requesting for months following Google's recent changes to Gmail.
MarkAsRead for Gmail comes with a few permissions that you need to be very clear about, such as the ability to read your network status. It requires access to notifications and will be able to read their content. So you'll have to be a little cautious and trust the developer, Rohan Puri, who works at the MIT Media Lab and is supposedly not out there stealing emails.
You can also wait for Google to release this feature in a new update, and in the meantime continue using the two usual buttons to reply to or archive the email.
Furthermore, a new version is expected that will offer the possibility of adding more than one Gmail account.
