After being leaked on more than one occasion, the new LG Velvet has finally been unveiled and launched in style. There is no more speculation about its characteristics and technical specifications, since all the details have already been revealed by the South Korean manufacturer.
The device is presented as the new medium-performance terminal on the market. As we anticipated, it arrives with one of the most powerful Qualcomm chipsets today. We report all the details of the smartphone below.
All about the new LG Velvet
We are facing a mid-range terminal. However, it could easily be confused with a high-performance mobile, and that is due to its design, which stands out for being quite premium, which also means that its construction materials are top class. LG has wanted to implement a curved glass -which in this case is known as 3D arc design-, something that we usually see only in flagship models; An example of this are the Xiaomi Mi 10, which come with curved panels.
Per se, Velvet's screen is large -about 6.8 inches-, which makes the device huge too. This is OLED technology and is supported by slightly pronounced top and bottom bezels that work together to maintain the slim 20.5: 9 screen format that the phone boasts.
The resolution that the LG Velvet screen produces is still unknown. Despite this, the company revealed that the type of panel is Cinema FullVision. It should also be noted that the body that holds the screen is made of glass and metal.
The chipset that is housed under the hood of this medium-performance terminal is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, octa-core chipset featuring the following core agglomeration for exceptional day-to-day performance: 1x Kryo 475 Prime (Cortex-A76) at 2.3 GHz + 1x Kryo 475 Gold (Cortex-A76) at 2.2 GH + 6x Kryo 475 Silver (Cortex-A55) at 1.8 GHz. The Adreno 620 GPU is the one that comes with this processor and is responsible for the execution of games and multimedia content, while a RAM memory and internal storage space of 8 GB LPDDR4X and 128 GB UFS 2.1, respectively, is what the device has.
An 4.300 mAh capacity battery is responsible for keeping the device full of energy, at the same time in which a triple rear camera of 48 MP (main sensor) + 8 MP (wide angle) + 5 MP (macro lens for close photos) and and a 16-inch front shutter MP are put to order for taking photos of excellent quality.
The Velvet, having the Snapdragon 765G, has 5G connectivity. It is also waterproof thanks to the IP68 certificate it boasts. Its dimensions are given as 167,1 × 74,1 x 6,4 and its weight is 180 grams, which is really remarkable for the fact of carrying such a large battery and being quite tall. The phone also makes use of the Android 10 operating system and comes with an in-display fingerprint reader.
