Google is launching an option for be able to use Google Messages together with Gemini, its own artificial intelligence. Now users will be able to compose an SMS message with the help of AI or start brainstorming to have a stimulating conversation with the tool. Let's see how it works and what devices can use it.
Start a conversation with Gemini through Google Messages

Google has officially launched the option so that both Gemini and its messaging app can interact through the user. At the moment, it has been implemented in a beta version, and in some Android models such as the Google Pixel 6, 7 and 8. In addition, the Pixel Fold and Pixel A series, along with Samsung models such as the Galaxy S22 or later and Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold.
If you have some of these models, you can start Gemini's interaction with Google Messages as follows:
- Enter the Google Messages application.
- Tap the Gemini chat, it appears in the « sectionStart Chat» and select «Gemini«.
- If you are a new user, follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
- When finished, you will have the tool configured.
- Now you just have to ask Gemini a question.
- If it is the first time, an interactive guide will appear on how to use it correctly.
- You can add images by pressing the « buttonshow screen attach media» and select one from the gallery.
- To finish, send the message by tapping the “send message” button and Gemini will start your interaction.
Importantly When using this service where Gemini can interact in Google Messages, end-to-end encryption is not available. That is, all the content generated in these interactions can be seen by third parties.
With this implementation of Google in its messaging app together with Gemini, its artificial intelligence engine, it makes it clear that the company seeks to transform the way of sending SMS messages.
