How to install Ubuntu on your Android device

In the following tutorial I am going to explain how to install Ubuntu on our Android device and make it work correctly. correct and effective.

In very few steps and with a few Free, we will get to run a whole version of this Linux operating system on our Android device.

The first of all will be check if our device is compatible for this purpose.

Necessary requirements

We must have a device with Android OS 2.1 or higher, with a processor 1Ghz, rooted and with Busybox installed, in addition we must have installed a Kernel compatible with loop device supportand we have a cooked rom installed on our device it is sure that the Kernel it's compatible.

We must also have available 2,5 to 3,5 Gb of available internal storage spaceIt depends on the system image we select.

Have the application installed ubuntu installer free that we can find for free in the Play Store.

I am going to do this tutorial with the paid version of the app, the only difference is that in the free version you must select the version Ubuntu 10.10, since the latest version not available for download from the free app.

Otherwise the entire system and installation steps are identical.

Part one: downloading the necessary files

We will execute the Ubuntu Installer application and a screen like the following will appear:

Ubuntu Installer paid

Now we will click on Install Guide and we will select the version of Ubuntu that we want to install:

Ubuntu Installer Paid

Those of you who do it with the paid version will be able to select between Ubuntu 10.10 and Ubuntu 12.04, those of the free version will only have the option to Ubuntu 10.10.

Once the desired option has been selected, this screen will be shown:

We will click on Next:

Now we will click on Download Boot Script and then on Download full Ubuntu image, we will wait for the files to be downloaded, the first will do it quickly, but the second will take a while, since it is the complete image of the operating system.

Once both files are downloaded, we will click on Dwonload / install VNCviewer App y Download / install Terminal App.

When both programs are downloaded and installed We can now exit Ubuntu Installer.

Part Two: Unzipping the Ubuntu Image and Scrippt

In this step we have two options to do it, the first is go to the download directory with an application like Root Explorer and unzip both files in the root of the sdcard, (device internal storage memory).

The second and fastest is connect the device to the PC and unzip both files from the PC, remember that the two resulting files must be left directly in the root of the sdcard:

Unzipped files in the root of the sdcard

Once this is done we can move on to the third step.

Third step: Terminal Emulator

Now we will open the application terminal Emulator and we will type the following commands:

terminal emulator

terminal emulator

cd sd card

su

ls

When typing the command ls, the terminal will report the files found in the sdcard Of the device.

Now with the following command, we will execute the Linux image:

sh ubuntuv6.sh (ubuntuv6.sh is the name of the previously downloaded script, if your script is called in a different way you will have to copy the name as you have it in the sdcard).

Now we must set the resolution of our device, in this case as I am doing it from the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 ″, I will put 1024 × 600, you will have to put the suitable resolution for your terminal.

Then If I gave you a choice between two options, which did not happen to me, we will select the option number 1, although I already tell you that he did not give me a choice between any option.

Done this we must leave the Terminal running in the background, for this we will click on Home and we will be ready for the last step.

Step four: configuring the VNCviewer and running Ubuntu

Now we must open the application vncviewer and fill in the data as I leave you in the following screenshots:

(the password is ubuntu)

Now we just have to click on the button Connect and enjoy the version of Ubuntu selected for your Android.
