With the appearance of Google Photos, many of us met again with a great Google app that advocates a clean and well-kept interface, and that comes with the surprise that means that you can make a backup copy of photos and videos in HD without any limitations. This meant that Google Photos became very relevant in the weeks following its presentation at Google I/O 2015 and that it was downloaded by millions of users around the world to have the photos they were going to take these summer vacations well stored in their cloud without having to spend a euro.
But not everything is being perfect for Google Photos. Just recently we learned how Google had to publicly apologize for how Google Photos wrongly marked certain users as "Gorillas" because of their skin tone. And not everything is staying here, since there are also many users who have finally given up using this app to return to the ones they used previously, so they finally uninstalled it. Although this uninstallation means that the images that are taken with the camera continue to be uploaded to the Google cloud when they are backed up.
Even when uninstalled, the backup is still active
That is it. If you activated the backup to access that infinite storage space and then uninstalled the app because you thought it wasn't for you, the backup will remain active loading the photos you take or downloading to your Android device.
The problem is that Google Photos was previously part of the social network Google+. Before Google Photos was released, Android users could tell the OS to automatically back up their photos from Google settings. What was supposed, is that this automatic photo copy setting was not going to be available in the Google Photos app itself, which has finally caused quite a bit of confusion.
Next we show you the steps you have to take to deactivate the backup or backup photos even if the app has been uninstalled from your Android device.
How to disable automatic backup of Google Photos
- The first is open google settings. To find it you must open the application drawer and navigate to them to open them.
- Now the following is click on «Sec. copy. Google Photos ». This is exactly where we will have to deactivate the backup of photos from Google Photos.
- Already in this section, we deactivate the «Backup» on the icon or button indicated for it.
And we will have this option to backup the photos of the app disabled. In this section right where we have touched some settings is where you can modify the parameters that have to do with the upload size or save copies of photos only over Wi-Fi.
A few Google tweaks that can lead to confusion but that from time to time it is important that we take a look. Since it was the first time it was integrated into an Android device to what it is today, they have more and more options and parameters to modify.
Thanks for the information!
You're welcome Esther! : =) greetings
