The issue of fragmentation in Android continues to be a headache for Google, despite the fact that in the last two versions, through Project Treble, has tried to reduce it. Today and when Android Q is about to launch, Android Pie is available on 10% of devices.
One of the main novelties that will come from the hand of Android Q, will be the dark mode, a mode that will automatically modify the color of the applications, from white to black, in all those that are compatible. However, not everyone will be able to upgrade to Android Q, at least soon.
For all those users who want to enjoy a dark mode on their terminal, a terminal that will not update to Android Q, if it does, Google has been updating its applications adding a dark theme. Previously, both the Calendar app and Google Keep already offer it. The latest application to add to this long list is Google Photos.
The guys at Google have started rolling out a new update to Google Photos, which adds the option to manually activate dark mode in the app. As in other Google applications, this dark mode adopts a dark gray background instead of opting for total black, which would be the ideal, to take advantage of the advantages that OLED screens offer in terms of power consumption.
Both the search field and the bottom navigation are slightly lighter so it can be located more quickly. This dark mode, due to the contrast, will make the photographs we have stored stand out more than with the traditional white background.
This new mode does not come in the form of an update, it is done at the server level, so we just have to go through the application regularly to check if we already have that option activated.
