One of the most requested features by the Android community for Google Calendar is the ability to customize calendar events and colors directly from your devices.
Today's update allows you to do just that; from now on you can highlight important appointments and celebrations like birthdays by personalizing them, or simply by changing the calendar color as you wish.
Adding events or appointments is now much easier and more fun with the redesigned time and date input interface, which allows you to perfectly schedule any event.
The time zone input UI has also been redesigned, making it easier to find the region you're looking for, whether you're in Tokyo or New York. Another feature that has been improved for even greater ease of use is the scheduling of recurring events . You can now set a series of recurring events to run every Thursday or Tuesday, every month, or every seven weeks, as you wish.
Custom colors in Google Calendar
A "colorful" update from Google, coming just after yesterday's Gmail update with a touch of color in the tabs and certain social features. Another Google project to add to these weeks that seem to have never ended: I/O 2013.
We're wondering which app will be the next to get a redesigned interface and features, hoping that YouTube, one of Google's flagship apps, will be next. We're eagerly awaiting the next few days, as there aren't many apps left for Google to update—you could count them on one hand.
This latest version of Google Calendar is only compatible with devices running Android 4.0.3 and higher , and custom colors will only be available on Android 4.1 and higher. The update will be rolling out over the next few hours and you can download it as usual from Google Play.
