In recent weeks, talking about Gmail has become more than just a recurring topic. On the one hand, we've learned that Google Inbox will stop working on April 2nd, with Gmail being the application most users of this platform will adopt. On the other hand, we see that in upcoming updates, Gmail may implement the ability to schedule emails.
Today we have some bad news regarding Google's email service, at least for users of the IFTTT integration, as this integration will stop working completely on March 31st. The If This Then That service will cease to function because Google has announced that this third-party service will no longer be able to connect with IFTTT to automate tasks.
Thanks to Gmail's integration with IFTTT, we could automatically save all email attachments, create reminders, send notifications, manage the calendar, and many other functions.
Google's move is disappointing, and it's likely due to the recent security breaches surrounding the Google+ social network, which is about to shut down. The IFTTT service has confirmed on its blog that its Gmail integration will be discontinued after March 31st. Only the "Send an email" and "Send to yourself" features will remain available .
If you regularly use Gmail's integration with IFTTT to automate tasks, you'll have to find an alternative before the service disables most of its most useful features. However, this doesn't seem easy at the moment, as Gmail itself doesn't offer any alternatives within the service without requiring a computer.
For now, it seems that the rest of the features offered by Google, Google Drive and others, will continue to be available.
