We use WhatsApp to talk to friends and family, even to work or communicate with our fellow students. Being a social network, WhatsApp has rules that encourage respect and advocate for a safe environment within the application. These norms or rules specify the types of content that cannot be shared in the conversations we have in the app. So much so that there is a list of words that are prohibited on WhatsApp.
Banned words on WhatsApp: what are they?
The app asks that any message that incites hatred or crime be reported. Users can report the contact or number who has committed the violation so that WhatsApp acts accordingly. The person reported will not even know who made the report.
Among the words prohibited by WhatsApp are all those expressions linked to illegal activities such as child abuse or human trafficking.
Also all words related to violence, hatred, intimidation or expressions that cause harm to other people. Nor are they allowed discrimination and threats.
Much less is it allowed to be shared brutally violent content or with sexual connotations, since other users could report you if you do.
Consequences of using them
When you start a conversation on WhatsApp, the legend appears that both the calls and messages you exchange with that number, from that moment on, will be end-to-end encryption. This means that no one, not even WhatsApp, will be able to see or hear the content shared in that conversation.
But, in case you fail to comply with WhatsApp regulations and use the app to share inappropriate content, the platform may take action in this regard. It is not that WhatsApp is spying on your conversations, but if you are really breaking the rules of the app and use prohibited words and share illegal content, you could be reported by the contact(s) with whom you have shared that content.
If you are reported, WhatsApp will review your case and among the measures it can take are blocking your account, either temporarily or permanently. It could also prohibit you from using the same number to create a new account on the platform. Even if the content is reason to be investigated by justice, WhatsApp could report you to the same police.
