We have known these days that smartwatches are not collecting positive sales figures, but rather negative ones, and it is not only that Android Wear is the culprit, but that Apple also sees them with its Watch, which follows the same discouragement path for a product format where it is quite difficult to bring in something that manages to be attractive enough to the general public.
In regards to Android Wear 2.0, the next iteration of the modified OS for wearables, some details are beginning to arrive on some features that are not being very well received by developers. Ian Lake, one of the Googlers, has revealed that in version 2.0 of Android Wear the apps must be installed from the Play Store from the smarwatch instead of from the companion app on the smartphone.
Currently the apps are installed from the smartphone itself. Users install a Android app that comes with the Android Wear version, so that it is automatically installed on the smart watch.
According to Lake, in Wear 2.0 users will have to go through the Google Play Store version of the watch, whether or not the equivalent is installed on the smartphone itself. A double-edged sword, since users will have to install the same app twice on both their smartphone and their smarwatches, while for developers it means that they will have to "package" the app independently for Wear.
More steps to obtain the same, although from Lake's opinion, he assures that the decision was made from the studies that are collected on the behavior of users with their smartwatches.
