Android timeline

We are all eager to have on our devices Android the new version Ice Cream Sandwich. It promises to be a revolution among all the versions that have been, both at the technical level and at the interface level.

At this point, I invite you to travel back in time and see how our favorite Operating System has evolved ... let the journey begin!

Android 1.5: Cupcakes

Although a version 1.0 has already been released, Cupcake (1.5) was the first version that set the Android standards. It featured a simple color interface, there were no current hot buttons at the bottom of the screen, on the contrary there was a button with which the applications menu was displayed.

In the technical section, was the first version to have the virtual keyboard.

Also, as of this version, Google started calling its versions with dessert names and in alphabetical order (starting with "C").

Android 1.6 Donut

It presented a more careful interface, following the line of the previous version.

Introduced the "text to speech", LThe search function was no longer just searching the web, but also on the phone itself and most importantly: it included the first version of the Market.

Android 2.1: Eclair

This version exhibits the most significant first visual change, because Google bought Android.

Included animated screensaver, icons were redesigneds and many performance improvements.

Android 2.2: Froyo

This was the first version to include the quick access buttons. (to the sides of the applications button at the bottom).

It featured big improvements in performance and integration with Adobe Flash Player, which allowed a complete navigation through the internet.

Android 2.3: Gingerbread

Visual improvements followed with this version: the notification bar changed to black and green colors, icons were redesigned and the default theme changed.

Has great performance and battery consumption improvements compared to its previous versions and a new greatly improved keyboard.

Android 3.0: Honeycomb

The current version of most Android Tablets, features huge performance improvements.

Regarding the interface, this purely tablet oriented and it is really comfortable and easy to use on these devices.

Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwiches

Latest version of Android presented. Renew its graphical interface completely, new quick access buttons at the bottom, new icons and a reorganized menu.

Improved performance, thanks to its hardware acceleration, unlocking through the user's face, multitasking improvements, etc. (There are many improvements to put them in a single paragraph: D).

What does the future hold?

The only thing that is known about the next version of Android is that it will be called Jelly Bean (or is what is rumored), but seeing the changes between versions, it will surely be a new revolution in Operating Systems.
