The Minecraft community reunited this March for one of the most anticipated events of the year: Minecraft LIVE 2025The show, which once again combined development news, animations, special guests and epic moments, made it clear that The Minecraft universe is more alive and expanding than ever.

Spring to Life: The first Game Drop of the year announced at Minecraft Live 2025
The big announcement of the event was Spring to Life, the first “Game Drop” of 2025, that eIt will be available from March 25 on all platforms.. And, as you will see in the published press release, the company behind the development of Minecraft is going big.
Mojang is abandoning the annual update model and opting for more frequent releases under this new format. The idea is clear: more content, more often. And a way to compete with other rivals like Fortnite…
What does Spring to Life include?
New mob variants: The classic cows, pigs, and chickens will now have warm and cold variants, depending on the biome. As they explain, it promises more life to the Overworld and variety when exploring your world.
Sheep adapted to the climate
- Browns: appear in warm and sandy biomes.
- Black: common in cold biomes.
- White: in green and temperate biomes.
- Pink: These are still rare and can spawn anywhere.
Wolves with personality: They now have seven distinct howl, growl, and groan types, regardless of their variant or biome.
New ambient sounds: The desert comes alive with howling winds, night crickets, and the rustling of sand as you walk on terracotta blocks or dead bushes.
Fallen leaves and dry leaves:
- Fallen leaves vary in color depending on the tree they come from.
- The dried leaves can be used as decoration and make a crunchy sound when walked on. They are found in forests and wastelands or can be baked.
New vegetation
- Wildflowers: These serve as dye and can be placed in up to four different positions in a single block.
- Dry grass: found in deserts and allows sheep to regenerate their wool.
- Cactus flower: pink in color and useful for dyeing, it also attracts bees.
- Firefly Bush: Produces glowing particles and can grow near water.
- Common Shrub: Available in green biomes and can be multiplied with bone meal.
Utility improvements
- Magnetite is easier to craft: it now only requires an iron ingot and stone bricks. Ideal for using compasses that always point to your base.
- New Cartographer Maps: You can now purchase these to locate specific biomes or villages. Each Cartographer has a unique selection.
- Revamped Street Vendors: Better inventory, more choices, and lower prices for new players.
- Spawning eggs with custom textures: Now reflect the appearance of the mob they summon, making them easier to identify in Creative mode.
Vibrant Visuals: The New Graphical Leap in Minecraft
One of the most celebrated surprises was the first glimpse of Vibrant Visuals, a graphical update that gives the game a facelift without losing its pixelated essence. For example, Minecraft will now boast better-defined pixelated shadows, improved underwater effects, more realistic lighting effects (for example, the dynamic solar light that now passes through trees and reflects on blocks), and greater visual depth underwater.
Please note that Vibrant Visuals will first arrive on devices compatible with Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, and will later be integrated into Java Edition.
New update structure
The charismatic Tiny Jens, Tiny Agnes, and Tiny Vu, the animated mini versions of the Mojan team, also brought more surprises. Yes, Minecraft will now have two Minecraft LIVE games per year, and each one will come with a Game Drop.
This means players will no longer have to wait for a yearly mega-update, but will instead receive new content more consistently.
A new kind of Ghast… that you can ride
The second major update of the year was announced for later in 2025, but Mojang has already given a spectacular preview. Dried Ghast, a new Nether block, is arriving. You can also rehydrate dried ghast to create a cuddly and affectionate Ghastling mob. And if you take care of it… It grows into a flying ghastle!
If that wasn't enough, you'll be able to ride a Happy Ghast with three friends and fly through the Overworld. Plus, you can build on its back. Along with this, the new Player Locator Bar, a bar that shows the location of other players within the world. It's in testing, but promises to make cooperative exploration much easier.
The Minecraft movie and the in-game event
Emma Myers, star of the upcoming Minecraft movie, has confirmed its release date: April 4. Additionally, he was part of the show to present an exclusive trailer and announce a special in-game event.
From March 25th to April 7th, on all platforms with Bedrock Edition, You'll be able to participate in a themed event where you must save Midport Village from a piglin attack. Those who complete all the challenges will unlock an exclusive cape available in both Bedrock and Java Edition.
The Deep Dig: The aftershow with chaos and laughter
