Kirin 985 is now official after appearing on a first mobile device. The processor comes as an important alternative, it is the third in the family to provide 5G connectivity and will be available in phones from both brands from 2020.
The first to provide a fifth generation connection have been Kirin 990 and Kirin 820, the first of them is the high-end of the family, while the second is a clear bet for mid-range terminals. Kirin 985 has been manufactured in 7 EUV nanometers and shares things from the 990 model.
This is the new Kirin 985
El Kirin 985 is an eight-core processor with three clusters, the first one is a 76 GHz Cortex A2,58 core, three 76 GHz Cortex A2,40 cores and four of them are 55 GHz Cortex A1,84. The graphics card is the Mali G77, which It is 40% faster than Mali G76, the one ridden by Kirin 990.
This factory CPU comes with a dual-core NPU with Kirin ISP 5.0 processing, the one used by its brothers Kirin 990 and Kirin 820. It claims to be 20% more efficient and provide 30% less noise than previous versions, all following the work of engineers to improve version 5.0 of Kirin ISP.

The 5G modem is the same one used under the Kirin 990 model, offers a download speed of 1277 Mbps and an upload of 173 Mbps, it is compatible with SA and NSA networks. It also supports other networks such as 4G, basic for those countries that are not yet operating under 5G.
