A few days ago, the last extension granted by the American government to American companies to continue working with Huawei ended. The United States has granted quarterly extensions since announcing the blockade with a total duration of one year. After the last grace period ends, Huawei smartphones will stop receiving updates from Google.
At least that's the theory. However, the manufacturer himself has stated the opposite. Huawei affirms that the smartphones that today are managed by Google services will continue to receive security updates. Regarding access to the Play Store, it is not mentioned at any time.
This announcement was made by Huawei responding to a tweet posted on Twitter asking if your Note 5T smartphone it would continue to work with Google services and if it would receive updates. The Asian company responded by stating that the end of the extension will have no impact on the existing terminals. Also, it claims that they (not Google) will keep releasing security updates for their devices, just like they always have.
The operating system and security updates that Huawei refers to in your tweet (there is no official statement regarding the implications of the end of the extension) will probably refer to to those that can be obtained through the Android Open Source.
The Asian company should specify if the terminals it currently has on the market will continue to receive updates from Google, so that users can get out of doubt. What is most striking about this matter is that not only Huawei has not made any public statement in this regard, but in addition, Google continues to be silent about it when 7 days have passed since the last extension ended.
